Featured Area Visual Artist
Daniel Ruben Wynn is a professional visual artist with a body of work that spans more than four decades. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, he has traveled the world in pursuit of freedom of creative expression. A graduate of Howard University and a 25-year resident of Washington, D.C., Daniel has come full circle back to the community in which he grew up. Even though his neighborhood is presently considered part of northwest Jacksonville’s troubled “urban core”, by establishing his residence and studio there, Daniel has made a commitment to be a living example of the power to enable people to transcend their circumstances and environment. Primarily a fine arts painter with works exhibited in numerous galleries and collections around the world, Daniel is also widely recognized for creating vivid, abstract, socially relevant murals, sculptures and mixed media installations in public spaces throughout the city of Jacksonville. He is the founder of City Kids Art Factory, a past recipient of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s annual Educator Award, a founding member of the Jacksonville Consortium of African American Artists, and a mentor to other artists.
