Born into a musical family (his father was the well known musicologist Charles Hamm and his brother is the famous bass player Stu Hamm) Bruce was immersed in music since early childhood. As a teenager he discovered and fell in love with Indian Music. He began learning with Ali Akbar Khan in 1974 and continuously studied vocal and instrumental music with him until Khansahib’s death in 2009.

He resides in the California Bay Area where he is a popular and respected teacher, carrying on the tradition of the Maihar Gharana.

Having music in both sides of his family, Nikhil Pandya began his tabla learning at an early age in Valsad, India. His first teacher was late Shri Prem Shankar Nayak. After immigrating to the US, Nikhil had an opportunity to sit with Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, a highly respected figure in the world of Indian Classical Music. Nikhil has received rigorous training from the maestro in the field of tabla solo. He is equally adept at accompaniment. He has collaborated with musicians from many parts of the world and has performed in many US cities as well as in India.
